Health Paper Requirements & Valid Forms of ID

Below please find acceptable tags to identify your animals. Tags MUST have an official USDA shield. Iowa 4-H DNA tags are not acceptable as the only identification.

Every show requires a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) with every animal shown. All CVIs must be written within 7 days of each show. The CVI of out of state swine must indicate a negative pseudorabies test within 30 days of the show. The ENTIRE tag number (every number and letter) must be listed on the CVI, along with the ear notch, animal description, age, and sex, as well the address of each show. Please communicate these requirements with your local veterinarian to ensure you are following these regulations.
